Home :: Arts

The arts are a vast and extensive subdivision of culture. Different cultures have developed different ways of expressing themselves via the arts. As such the arts also relate strongly to the cultural identity of certain social groups. The arts are composed of many creative endeavors and disciplines by a wide selection of people and groups of people.

It is a broader term than "art", which as a description of a field usually means only the visual arts. The arts encompass visual arts, literary arts and the performing arts - music, theatre, dance and film, among others. This list is by no means comprehensive, but only meant to introduce the concept of the arts.

Traditionally, the arts have been classified into seven categories but in recent years the list has been expanded to nine. The nine major categories are Architecture, Sculpture, Painting, Music, Poetry, Dance, Theater/Cinema, with the modern non-traditional additions of Photography and Comics.

New Yorker's Cartoonist

Ed Koren may sometimes sound like a whiner and complainer but he is a fascinating mix of humor and sarcasm. He views publishing a cartoon as fishing. You cast your few worms into the pond or stream and hope that your judgment will be deemed funny. Sometimes you pull up the hook and the cartoon is still there just as when you cast it.

Metal Remnants, Inc. Can Save You Money

The building and construction industries use the bulk of all coated steel strips that are produced in the country and are used mainly for roofing commercial buildings. The color coated versions of this type of mill-applied organic coated Zinc provides a lifetime of protection for buildings plus, with the increasing cost of timber, more and more construction companies are moving towards using metals in both framing and for internal partitions considering that the metal does not rot or warp.
